Favourite Lures for Exmouth
Submitted by Mossie on Tue, 2010-01-05 00:07
Hey Guys,
I am getting all G'd up for the trip to Exmouth at the end of March. I am planning to keep an online diary of the trip which I will keep updated every day on here with pics ect.
I thought I'd post a thread to see what everyone's favourite hard body and soft plastic lures are for fishing Exmouth. Lets say we have two categories...
1. Trolling ( deep divers and shallow and what species you target with these lures)
2. Casting / Jigging Lures (and what species you target with these lures)
Looking forawrd to seeing what everyones choices are.

lures
That's way cool, since I can't be down (down for me, up for most of you) there. Was there Nov-Dec and did a little trip report (with pics) where I mentioned some lures. I was land-based though.
Hope to make it back some time this year, during the quiet period.
Check out the report:

Lures
Trolling: Williamson livies in mackeral or mullet work well for mackeral. Halco and Rapala hard bodies in shallow and deep divers for trout, snapper, trevs, queenies etc...
Casting: Halco twisties in chrome and gold. Halco poppers also work very well for tuna.

Leadheads
Buy some 6 or 7/0 leadheads from any decent tackle store in Perth.
Great casting lures for macks, tunas, trevs, etc.
If bottom bashing just drop them to the bottom with a sliver of fresh fish for bait and gently raise and lower them, will more than likely be hit when being dropped. Rankins, trout, reds, spangles, long nose, chinaman etc love them. If you lose the bait crank it up fast to entice any macks etc in the area.
Very simple lure to lose and incorporates a weight, lure and hook in the one package.
WA based manufacturer and supplier of premium leadhead jigs, fligs, bucktail jigs, 'bulletproof' soft plastic jig heads and XOS bullet jig heads.
Jigs available online in my web store!
