Fads

G'day guys.

I have been watching a few FWA DVDs lately and seen them out on the FADS all by themselves.
Now I don't have a boat big enough to reach the fads but I'm interested as to what happens when there is multiple
Boats out there trolling.

Do the fish hang away from the fads giving more room to troll or are the quiet close to the fad.
Is there problems with say 5 boats trolling around the one fad?

Thanks James

in my experience the dollys stay pretty close to the fad.

everytime i've been there have been at least 5 other boats out, can get pretty hectic when several boats have hook ups. generally don't troll around them, get as close as you can, drop a bait / plastic / lure or whatever then if you get a hookup drift off and let someone else have a crack.

usually if u rock up and no-one else is there the fish arent there either. keep trying different fads and then guarrantee the one where the dollys are active will have other boats fishing around. as long as people respect each other there aren't problems but i have seen pretty bad ettiquite out there resulting in tangled lines, lost fish and lots of swear words

when you say you dont have a big enough boat how small are you talking? i get out there in a 5m tinny on a regular basis, tuesday passed was the first time since they were deployed, dont sell yourself short, learn to pick the weather and find someone with some experience, as for traffic at the fads last season was busy when i visited them a few times but everyone was quite civil taking turns and giving people space, i think its gotten better over the years, in the past its been like a competition to see how close you can get to a boat who's hooked a fish and "accidently" bust them off.
