I found out today they are planning on pulling down the Esperance Tanker Jetty.
Details and petitions against it are on a website created by a group fighting the demolition.

Been flagged for a long time.
decision announced what seems like months ago. Prohihitively expensive to repair. They are considering building a replacement which would be a lot cheaper than repairing the existing structure.

I have fond memories fishing off the Esperance Jetty from the time I could walk, on our bi annual holidays in Esperance from Kal. PB was a bonnet sized stingray on 100lb handline, lots of snook and squid plus thousands of hezzas.
Shame, but it looked pretty stuffed last time I was in the sleepy town.

56.....haha....I was but a twinkle in the eye of my old man.
I vividly remember first falling in lust at the age of about 9, watching a rather well endowed teenage girl bounce up and down on the tramps at the front of the fresh air leaque after jumping the fence after dark....right around the peak of ABBA as I recall.

Jetty
The demolition has been postponed until a restoration study has been done, I believe the jetty can be saved at least for another couple of years, and in that time a decision can be made on the design for a new one and funds sourced for it.
