Eerie Scenes at Mindarie Today

I have just got back from doing my Saturday chores at Woolies in Mindarie. Coming back via Marmion Ave I saw what I thought was thick smoke. It was in fact a pea soup like fog coming off the ocean. Quite strange really. Anyone else see it?

Mist

Sun, 2009-04-12 18:50

I saw the mist as we drove round to Joondalup, I could see it in the sky but I never realised that it as going to be as dense as that at sea level.  I experienced the same thing when I was out in my boat in the early '90s.  A mist suddenly came down and I headed for shore quick smart.  Not because I was bothered about the mist, but I am terrified of the cowboys who drive the cray boats!  Good to see a Malibu kayak there.  I am a partner in the company that inports them from their American manufacturers

I saw a TV advert for an exercise machine today and it was said that just three minutes a day of the machine would give me the body I dream of.  How will three minutes a day on an exercise machine give me Miss World?

Salmon were thick  off the south side of rotto baitfish every where not 2 many crays on our dive but size was up.

Sea Mist/fog

Sun, 2009-04-12 10:26

About 6 years back we were pro fishing about 80nm north of Dampier when the fog rolled in.So thick it even blocked out the GPS signal and radar only showed as far as 1/2mile.Around us you could hear the fog horns on the iron ore bulk carriers on their way in/out of port.Luckily we were in an 85foot steel boat that would give a strong radar echo if one came close. The fog rolled in at 0900 and didn't lift untill 1600.If the longline we were polling had broken we would not have been able to find the next buoy to recover it untill it we got the gps signal back.

Hi Ya, early Saturday

Sun, 2009-04-12 18:05

Hi Ya,

early Saturday morning was heading east along Roe Highway and saw similar.  Over Beechborogh the clouds were very low, only a couple of hundred feet and a really brown colour like smoke.  It wasn't smoke, just cloud that didn't have the sun on it yet. There was also clouds blowing across Reid highway out near the RSPA site.  Was really weird.

Cheers.

Must have been right along the coast

Mon, 2009-04-13 17:16

Must have been right along the coast.
We launched at Cervantes just after 7am and couldn't see jack sh!t..

Even the moored crayboats were a struggle to see from the beach.

Headed out about 10nm and the mist didn't clear up until around 11'ish... was good to finally see some land marks !

But worth it in the end with 3 Dhui's and 2 Baldy's  Cool

Fish today.....work tomorrow !
