Dollies

Just wondering if you guys could give me a little info on targeting them?
Possibly heading out to the FADS tomorrow, but not chase dthem before?
Are they best targeted on Lures?? Haclo 2+m ones?
Also considering using snapbacks as well?
Are they any good on the chew? or primarily just a sports fish?
Thanks

Rick

Top eating Bodie
The are awesome fresh but don't freeze well at all.
Take a variety of lures an baits mate, they can be very fussy.
We normally start by trolling around the outer area of the Fads, and if that is no good, set up a drift with lightly weighted baits and drift passed the Fad.
Got to be sly putting your baits down or the Mutton birds will drive you mad
Good luck

They're certainly where
They're certainly where sports fish start and people think they taste ok, personal limit is 2 and the boat limit is 4 IIRC.
Be prepared to change what you're using a lot, they're pretty cagey. Live bait usually kills them, but I've even seen that fail once or twice.
Edit: both good points Rick, they don't freeze for shit and the muttonbirds are unbearable, theycan make working SPs totally impossible too.

geez....2speed....you're a bit behind of times....get an electric reel.
For dollies....go with skirts...small skirts like Richter Jelly babes, Hockzhead and no bigger than a Soft Grassy. Troll on slow....about 5-6kn....gear wise can start with 10kg gear and work your way down. When they're on the chew, you can chuck lures at them, like softies, medium size minnows and poppers. Basically any lures you would use for salmon.
