i I had a 10 foot tinny with an 8hp motor.  It was fine in the sound as long as the weather was nice.  Most of the Snapper Ground is south of Woodman Point.  I would launch at the Challenger Beach Ramp.  Or for whiting and stuff launch at woodies and head to Parmelia Bank.

Parmelia bank will keep you busy. fish the east side of it to cut down the distance and you will still get a feed.

That big blue grain thing is the largest grain terminal in the Southern Hemisphere, local knowledge,as I live near there.

Also restricted waters around the Terminal,so you can't get too close.

You will be ok in the Sound,as long as you are back before the seabreeze comes in,and it's been howling down here the last few days.

With a small electric motor, I personally wouldn't go too far, well unless you are an Olympic rower and have a good pair of paddles.

It all depends on where you go. If you were to launch at WP and head south west and allow the Seabreeze to assist you home, then all good. Though if you launched there and headed north, and then tried to 'jog' back into 20 knots, then I think your best bet would be to beach the boat and abandon it.

all depends on the conditions. If you find a day under 10 knots, the sure, have a crack. Anything over 15 knots can have you drifting at over a couple of knots. If your jog is 6 knots and you were drifting In the opposite direction at 3 knots, well I hope you will have solar panels to keep the battery topped up.
