great place
I think the duldrums season is either november or februay i cant quite remember. But thats when it stops blowing.
See Tony Bagnell for a private charter.
Nor anthony can arrage one of the malay blokes to take you out but there unreliable.
Geof christie runs the glass bottom boat and hes good value for snorkelling , island hopping and drinking. Hes not a fisherman though. He did put us on some doggies though.
Flats fishing there is very good but without a guide it will take you a few days to get in sync with the tides and fish. 1-3kg rod and a 2500 reel is suitable tossing 2inch plastics at silverbiddies, trevs and bones.
Sharks everywhere but they are never an issue. But they can go into a frenzy on your hooked fish but keep your cool and there fine.
Home island is good for bones it will also leave you gutted as you see a billion taxpayers dollars funding a holiday camp for the locals.
Hit the jetty at night. Its awesome. dont expect to land the GT's though as they will stitch you under the jetty every time. There are ways of getting them but its pretty unsporting.
cocos castaway for accom.
enjoy
Islandsholidays.com is best for packages and you should be paying around 1600 per person for 7 nights including flights.
and hire a care.

Probly on home island
But on the main island the alcahol is tax free and very cheap.
Home island is a muslim community. Its still a state of australia so i dont see why you couldnt unless there is some law drawn up over there.
If your a staunch fly fisherman theres bones to be had but on the light spin gear you will slay as there not fussy for plastics.

My first abroad fishing trip
My first abroad fishing trip was to cocos islands, and I did A LOT in my ten days there. The highlight was probably catching GT's up to 50cm on bream gear on a piece of straw - about a thirty second walk off the beach from the cocos motel.
I also had a couple of days out on charters and did a lot of trolling and exploring, there is loads to do and you will never be bored up there. The snorkelling was also fantastic.
I'd HIGHLY reccomend it..
