Cape Arid National Park

Well did the trip to the Cape Arid National Park with Damo6230 over the Easter break. (2 days driving, 2 days fishing) Found plenty of beaches and rocky headlands to fish between Poison Creek and Israelite Bay with a good variety of fish on offer. As expected there were plenty of resident Salmon and Herring with some real thumper Salmon mixed in. We also got bit off by some huge Sharks and I lost a Mulloway I estimated to be in the 30kg range. (I did get to see it and it was a horse of a fish) We heard rumours of a beach where Pink Snapper are caught regularly and thought it was just fishing tales until people in the camp site along from us confirmed it with 5 fish all over 7kg caught! Hence to say, we now know the spot and are planning our next trip.

If anyone ever wants to know more about the area, drop us a PM.

Yeh I was asleep when BJ hooked his mulloway.....

Fri, 2009-04-17 12:32

yeh was wondering when a cheap shot would surface.......

it's hard work catching all the bait, tying his rigs and cooking for him...ha ha

he hooked his mulla about 11.30pm so yeh lights out for me as we had a long trip home the next day.

we are planning a trip next year probably march full moon instead of easter as the mullaway like the warm weather. the spot is furhter east again , not rough just slow sandy track, so need more time.

plenty of guys are keen so we will organise the trip well in advance. full expedition with plenty of fuel/ gens etc.

any fishwrecked crew are welcome (well cruiser men.....).

Hey Damo, Matty77 is just jealous cos he couldn't get his act together to come on an awesome journey! Ha! Ha!

Hi Kev! In answer to your question, we caught Salmon of all sizes but the big ones we caught looked as though they were injured and holding up in the area to recover.

A friend of mine fished Yeagerup last Wednesday to Good Friday and they caught XOS Salmon every 2 hours.

BJ,

I would have loved to come along with you guys, but unfortunatly the sand would of gone straight through the seats.............. seeing as someone renegged on their offer of some decent seatcovers!!!!! HAHAHA

March sounds like a real good idea, only 10 months or so to go!!!

What a great place to spend some time fishing. Pity about the mulloway. Don't worry, you will get his big brother next time.
