Busselton Holiday
Submitted by Matt T on Thu, 2009-12-03 12:41
G'day fellas, I'm heading down to busselton early January for a week or so with the family and will be taking the boat. Just after a bit of info about the place as I've only ever fished off the jetty and really then only for herring. I will be staying on marine tce right near the jetty.
1. Where is a good place, close by to find a reef that will be exposed at low tide that I can go looking for occy's.
2. Reef to snorkle for Ab's? (feel free to PM...)
3. What the fishing i like in the bay around the jetty - I assume it is KG's, Sandies, skippy, herring and of course squid.
4. A good spot to have a snorkle for some blues mannas?
Any help would be greatly appriciated and you can expect a full report on return! Cheers

few questions there :P if
few questions there :P
if your after crays and occy's then launching at the marina and heading north to peppy beach is the best area. heaps of herring, skippy and sambo's in the shallows too.
if you want to snorkle for crabs the whole area is good .. i go to the back of the hospital but they are literally anywhere and everywhere .
heaps of herring, skippy and sandies around eagle bay if you have a 4x4 to launch with.
hope that helps a litttle. if you get bored while your down send me a p.m. and if i have a day off i might be able to get you out deeper.

Gday mate, Abs can be found
Gday mate,
Abs can be found anywhere on the west coast where there is reef or rocks. Inginup is a good spot. Just be aware there is a couple of no take zones.
Fishing in the bay is excellent. Squid can be found just about anywhere there is weed banks. 7m is usual a good place to start. Bigger fish can be found on the 4 mile. Seen plenty of good fish lately while diving and heard there has been some good KG catches in that same area.
Crabs are found anywhere along the coast in the bay. Snorkle at dusk just of the beach and you will find heaps.
Cheers

Feral,
Called in to HN to pick up a new notebook for the missus and to try catch you when we were down in October but you weren't in at the time (or may have been out the back). Will pop in when down in Feb and try again.

Looks like Busselton is going to be full of fishwrecked members at christmas/January. I am heading down on Boxing Day for 5 weeks. If you see a 6.4m Bar Crusher come and say hello.
