burly

was reading a post earlier and got to thinking of a machine that would mince up whole fish frames.

has anyone ever mulched a whole fish frame and head through one of these electric/petrol.. mulchers/chippers?

i have tried the old cast mincer but the opening is just to small, it would be a good way to get rid of all the left overs and make good burly at the same time.

freze into milk cartons and then use in your burly pots.

somebody must of tried.

i miss my old rotti, had to put her to sleep because of arthritis in the hips, she had a good life for 12 years and now she is in the display cabinet with us always........ (cremated of cours) you never know some people might of thought i had a stuffed rotti in there.

any way i might find a old mulcher and give it a go, just need to find one that can be hosed out maybe.

also i see these guys with ute loads of old loafs of bread, run them through as well to go in with the burly, im sure it would help get rid of the left over stinky bits?????????

maybe run some branches through it after the fish to help clean it out.

who would like to donate there mulcher for me to try?

good idea, keep em

good idea, keep em coming...the chipper is the way to go i think, because it has an entry and exit hole, be a shame to cover the fence in guts, you know how fast that stuf comes out.... lol

just looking online and you can get some large opening mincers with the worm drives in them, which produce a very course ground meat.

looks like it could take a fairly large head, and all parts are removable for cleaning.

im  gunna get a price

back in south australia we didnt use fish frames because most of them have lack of meat and more bone so we often just use anything we could find but it didnt effect the mincer at all that much my advise is to try and find anything with a lot of oil as that always worked a treat and it seems to make it last longer in the waterthings like slimy mackerel was the best but they were in more plentiful numbers and even salmon depends what fish you value as it on the table

If you want any more help just ask mate

Wrasse and trumpetors

Mon, 2010-02-22 12:40

Take all the smaller wrasse and trumpetors and freeze them whole for a few days - then Mulch or mince as required, add old fish oil from the fish and chips shop, mix with Chook pellets and freeze in old milk bottles - works a treat. Pity you cant mulch all the blowies you catch?

Burley masher

I haven't tried it myself, but my cousin recommends using a commercial strength garbage disposal unit - they are used to wet contents so don't rust out - and they munch up just about anything.
