cant speak for all other types of bait fish , as it does matter which type , but scalie mackeral

if thats what your catching, have no limit ,( size or bag ) according to the fisheries pamphets. We limit ourselfs to about 50 a sess, that way

they dont crush each other in the bucket, and the the small chest freezers most people have can freeze them quick.

I put 10 in a medium freezer bag, then lay them all flat on a plastic tray in the freezer, bag end just folded over.

next day i throw 1/2 a hand full of salt in each bag, roll them around in the bag , to bundle them up and finally tie a knot in bag.

presto , 10 fresh salted baits ready to go.10 per bag is easy to count, and lasts well for 1 fisher per salmon or tailor session, with

the bonus that as they defrost the salt helps absorb any excesss moisture.

Baitfish (Families

Atherinidae, Clupeidae

and Engraulidae –

pilchards, scaly mackerel,

whitebait, anchovies

and hardyheads) and

feral freshwater species

including carp, tilapia,

goldfish and redfin perch

have no bag limit.

Species with no bag limit:
