Aussie plait

Just tying a few of these, and was wondering if it's necessary to keep the wraps as tight as poss from the beginning, or doesn't it matter too much ??
When you pull on the finished loosly wrapped one , the wraps snake around the mainline a bit as it bites, but seems to have good strength.

Aussie plait
Hi Grayzee,
You need to keep the plait as tight as possible, but when you put the loop throgh the tag end just pull that untill it nips so the plait doesn't bunch up.

yep grayzee, best to keep
yep grayzee, best to keep tight, but I've done a few quick jobs in a mad rush using light line & it doesn't seem to reduce strength. Seems most of the strength is out of the last few plaits & tightening when you plait the double loop over.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.
