Left field sort of question- what is the biggest fish and largest depths you can reasonably expect to fish with this category of reel? What has been landed with this size reel you know of or heard of? cheers!

Not Shimano but landed a
Not Shimano but landed a 3.9kg tailor with no problems on an okuma 3000. Seen & heard of plenty of big salmon landed on 2500 size reels as well as a smattering of 10-12kg mulloway. Over east 2500 size reels are popular with the people chasing big dusky flathead & heaps of people use them in western port to chase snapper & gummies.
You can land some bloody big fish on a small reel if you take your time.
Just because I smile & nod does not mean I believe the crap coming out of your mouth.
All people have the right to stupidity but some abuse the privilege.

Its a question of how many you land:)
I usually take two rods out in the boat. One heavy and a small set up which is a stella 2500. Usually end up anchoring and burleying, this is when I use my light set up for skippy and such. Sometimes a school of small sambos or snapper will show up. No probs landing them on 15 lb, but my poor stella is feeling a little worse for wear over the years. Well our record is a 12 kilo dhuie on a whiting rig on a 2000 caldia, brother still has the reel and still uses it.

My PB dhui at 20.5 kg was on a daiwa certate 3000 - 20lb braid up with whitey in jurien. Many other big fish caught on that reel. No need for anything much bigger

nailed plenty of midrange sambos with 2500 and 15lb. Handy having a lot of drag capacity for this sort of thing.

Shimano Sienna 2500 is one of
Shimano Sienna 2500 is one of the best priced bang for your $$$ reels around, my best fish on it being a 83cm salmon. It also did all my tailor work last year. The reel is still as smooth as to this day, I never service it never wash it treat it rough and it still keeps going, it is on my 4ft ugly stick at the moment, my fun stuffing around tailor combo.

I have also pulled in decent mulloway averaging 5-8kg using a little Sienna 2500 and also Sahara..
Also, tailor and golden trevally, black snapper, mangrove jacks, cod etc...
