Waders or wet feet?

I spent the morning at Yanchep Lagoon without much luck.  Dropped in at Club Capricorn also to see what was going on there.  There was quite a mix of styles out there.  Long pants with shoes and socks trying to stay dry, like me, bare feet and shorts, and waders.

Waders seem ideal in theory, but I worry about going in the water and having them fill up with water.  There were some blokes on the rocks at Club Cap wearing waders, just didnt seem like a good idea to me.

What do other members think, any experiences?

Prefer wet feet from a saftey

Prefer wet feet from a saftey aspect - if you go in and they fill up could you get your waders off!

Wet suit bottom - the best of both worlds, keeps you warm and if you go in protects you from the rocks, gives bouyancy and will help prevent hypothermia.

I'm with Paul.
I have a 3mm wet suit bottom and have wet suit booties. I have two pairs, one rock hoppers with metal spikes and a pair without. Depending how I feel and where I am going.

Keeps you warm and protects you.

I find waders too cumbersome.

I fish with just a pair of old runners and usually shorts. Have done the long pants thing but when they are wet they are bloody awkward to slosh around in.

Waders

Waders for sure, the ones with elastic round the top not the bib and braces style
You shouldn't be putting yourself in a spot where they can get full of water so if it happens you can only blame one person.

All depends on the weather and time of year, summer is shorts, winter and colder weather, waders.

Gum boots and wet weather pants

Sun, 2013-08-11 11:46

Pull the wet weather pants over the top of gumboots and the width of the gumboots seals the lot up. Go in upto my thighs without getting wet
