Transducer theft - is it a common occurance?

Hi All,
just wanted to know it Transducer theft is a common occurance, only had my boat for a mth and mine has vanished somehow last week, the bad news is its costing 400 to get a new one installed - any ideas on how to prevent this from happening?

It is a worry when you have a couple of grands worth hanging off the back.
Like all theft you will Never stop it happening - just reduce the risk. Keep boat in secured areaand point security cameras at it.
Did they cut the wires? Pain in the ass (for them) to rewire so close to the transducer

ive tried to reduce the risk
ive tried to reduce the risk by putting it into a secure storage facility, but you cant stop ppl from coming in and out of there.
looks like they did cut the wires and just snapped it off the hinge - very annoying.

Through the hull
the only thing is to get the next one to go through the hull.Storage should have security cameras.
