TLD 25

Hey guys just spent $500 on a TLD 25 with a Shimano backbone elite as the rod,
As far as i can gather the TLD is a very popular reel, strong, lightweight and built to last.
Has anyone had any problems with it or know a bit about it?
Cheers luke

Bit Late Now
One would think you would have asked the questions before you bought the reel not after.

Have had a couple of TLD25's for going on 20+ years. Have stopped a number of YFT at 50kg+ off Cape Town and still going strong with a little love and TLC.
Only thing is the handles can be a right pain so for $15 - $20 each I've upgraded to these which has made a big difference to their performance --> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-Handle-Molded-T-Bar-Knob-Shimano-Torium-14-16-20-30-Reels-/300860225252?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460caab6e4
Enjoy!

good combos for something that will last forever. Just a pitty you payed 500 for the combo. Could havw gotten a much better quality setup for that, such as a tyrnos.

you should give whoever sold
you should give whoever sold it to you a hard time. Campbells have your combo for $269. At BCF for $199 they throw in a rod too.(although a bit of a lesser rod than yours but still a shimano beastmaster).
But ahh well you win some you lose some.
You sure you didn't get one of the TLD 30A or something? They are $280ish.

good on you for giving them a call and a hard time. In the end it is buyer beware and they could have told you to get stuffed.

I paid close to $500 in 2006
I paid close to $500 in 2006 for a similar setup with 300 m braid from a reputable nation wide tackle franchise that sponsor a very popular fishing show on tv that may have something to do with catching a huge tuna off new zealand recently..... and perhaps i paid too much back then???
But whatever, it has been a great rig, i haven't serviced it yet in what? 7 years. it is due, because the only problem i am having now is the drag setting has slipped from its original setting so i think there may be a brush or two that needs replacing...
