Sounds like they're resident old boys. Buried in the mud all winter.

I just went this arvo was out for about 2 hours and got 3 size ones and 2 were stonkas I would say given the number of small ones another month and it should be firing. And there's a ridiculous amount of jellyfish every pot we pulled weighed a shit load!

Went for a dive at Bicton

Sat, 2012-11-10 23:04

Went for a dive at Bicton tonight, saw heaps of Crabs, about 50/50 undersized to legal. But the main problem was most the legal sized ones were really big females that were berried with eggs, so had to leave them. Only got 4 keepers, one male and three females. Also got 10 prawns  :-)

Same Buz, but was at the Coombe.  A few sized and lots of little Bluies.  I was filming so didn't catch anything.  Was starting to think, gees these Asian paddle crabs are everywhere within the shallow rocky stuff.  Looking at my footage this morning confirmed that they were infact the native four lobed crab, so all good.

Will be plenty of big crabs in time for Chrisy to compliment the whites on the table.

Cheers Pete

Yea still lots of small

Yea still lots of small fellas in the swan, just undersize and a few legals here and there. Took the tinnie down to Augusta last week, same situation, lots of hard work for a lot of undersize crabs couldnt keep one. Good to see the numbers up though, another moult or two and they will be good for the table.
