Does anyone use it? Heading to Walpole area over Christmas / New Year and since the Engel will be used for food and booze nowhere for bait.

Used the squid once when it
Used the squid once when it first came out, caught plenty of whiting . Depending on where your fishing you could use it to catch, enough fresh bait for a session to target something else.

Could make your own
Lots of salt, a bit of fish oil and pop it all into ziplock bags with a small hole in one corner for drainage and bait will last for ages, just make sure it is draining.

Looked into it
A few weks ago for things like you are doing. After i found out the cost, approx $85 per kg of squid reconstituted, i figured a few hours fishing with the little rod could catch me some fresh bait when there.
Sometimes when the water is quiet, you can hear the fish laughing at you !
