Evinrude Motor Help
Submitted by crikeyromero13 on Mon, 2013-01-14 16:05
Hello
I have currently bought a secondhand 15ft boat with a EVINRUDE 50HP 1972 outboard
The motor runs and works ok, but wont running full trottle when the control arm is all the way forward
Can and one have or know how to fix or knows a good mechanic that wont charge to much to look or fix it?
Any help would be great
Regards
Mike

Evinrude
I have a johnson which is omc and the same as Evinrude. After a few different mechanics I ended up at boat city who know a bit about this brand and should be able to take a look for you. It's peak season at the moment though so most boat shops are busy

Most will charge like wounded bulls
Only passionate mechanics enjoy working on old rattlers!
can try chivers as they serviced my 93 johno - but dont be surprised if its too old.

Carby Clean
Get a can of carby cleaner, strip the carbies down and soak all of the parts with it, leave for 15-30 mins, wash off with petrol and re-asemble, works 90% of the time.

I did have one of those
I had a similar problem and found that the fuel mix dial on the front of the cowling needed adjusting not sure if yours has the lean or rich dial on the front if so could be worth a look.
