Denmark & Albany Help
Submitted by Pezdog on Tue, 2013-04-23 16:49
Hi All
Heading down south to Denmark and Albany with the hoards of others over the next week and a half and hoping to get onto some quality fish. No 4WD and will be landbased. Mainly keen on fishing the beaches for some Salmon or even some Whiting, Pinkies (I hear you can get them at Wilsons Inlet at certain times).
Will most probably be with the Mrs so nothing too dangerous would be what I am after.
Thinking Wilsons Inlet, Cheynes and few of the Albany beaches but don't really have a clue.
Ive had a bit of a look around on here and on the net but hoping some of the FW crew can help me out.
Cheers

Was at Salmon hole during Easter weekends. Ended up spending most of the times untangling my lines instead of fishing. A bit crowded sometimes.

plan it safely as the swell
plan it safely as the swell is forecast to be fairly solid over the next week (3-4.5m).
it's a bit of a worry to read that "Salmon holes is a pretty chilled spot to fish", considering the amount of people that have been washed in and drowned..... even off the beach the king tides catch a lot of people out.

If u fish off those rocks then
There's nothing relaxed about the place,,, we fished it off the beach and did xt remedy well,,, I'd easily say its a chilled place to fish,,, as long as u can get a spot,,,,!
but on that note if the swells are up go to mutton bird island,,, great wen weather a bit hectic!!

Hi Pezdod. Shelly beach and
Hi Pezdod. Shelly beach and Cosy Corner are some great and easily accessible spots. Good chance of salmon at each and there are always heaps of herring/whiting/small skippy if the salmon aren't running. Ocean beach in Denmark is also good. You can either fish off the beach or drive up the hill and fish off the rocks. Good luck

Cheers lads
I hit up Salmon Holes over the last two days. Yesterday with lures, 3 hookups and lost all 3 in about hour and a half. Everyone else was catching them on bait maybe about 15 landed while I was there. Today tried with bait but unfortunately due to the weather I was the only one there and got one hookup but lost that too in about 45min-hour.
Pretty shattered really as I am still yet to catch a salmon. Am now in Denmark so will try around here for a couple of days and hopefully I will have success and post a report.
Cheers

Yeah yeah
Mate I found it pretty tough landing them on lures, I reckon changing to singles would be the go as they seem to shake the trebles pretty easily. Cheers for your input JV! Haha
