Bag Limits 2013
Submitted by Fish guts on Wed, 2013-01-09 16:44
so as of 1st Feb 2013 you can only take 2 Demersal fish per boat in a 24 hour period within the west coast bioregion. am i reading this right? so one snapper one Dhuie and go home.... not that i have a problem with this infact if i got one snapper and one dhuie every time i went out i'd be happy.

Incorrect. You can only take
Incorrect. You can only take 2 demersals per liscence. If you have 2 liscensed fishers on your boat, you can take 4 demersals. There is however a boat limit of 2 dhufish per boat.

Havent looked at new rules
Havent looked at new rules yet but if first post is correct it has changed. There never was a 24 hour boat limit they use to call "days limit" from midnight to midnight.
Dont want to go into detail but the smarter guys out there would have used this to there advantage...
I will be looking into this tomorrow!

is that right ...thought it
is that right ...thought it was max 2 dhu on board obviously and 2 demerals per lic no boat limit eg 4 x lic = 8 snapper or 6 snaps and 2 dhu...Edit I read your post wrong...yeah think its 2 dhu max ...then 2 demersals per lic , no boat limit

Your onto it
West Coast Zone.
Limit of 2 demersals per licenced fisher.
No boat limit for total demersal catch ie. 2 fishers - 4 demersals, 5 fishers - 10 demersals. etc.
Boat limit of 2 Dhuies, included in demersal catch.
Pretty simple really

The main statewide rule changes are
These rules are effective from 1st Feb 2013.............The new guides look a bit easier to understand and it looks like recfishwest gets a couple of mentions as well.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Mike Roenfeldt had the right
Mike Roenfeldt had the right idea last week in the West Australian-that the 2 demersals per RFBL should only be in the metro region.

there is some silly
there is some silly "anomolies" in the new (and old) rules.
One in particular is the Abrolhos possession limits
At the Abrolhos Islands the possession limit is:
•• 10 kg of fish fillets; or
•• one day’s bag limit of whole fish or fish trunks.
so in theory if you are out there for a few days, fillet anything and keep on board, then head out next day and bag your 2 fish then get checked before you have had a chance to fillet them, you are technically in breach.
You'd have to hope there would be some common sense on the part of the Fisheries.
