30 hp mariner stalls when backing throttle off

Hi All

I have a 2004 Mariner 30 hp. Starts fine, cruises fine but if I have been cruising at speed for a while it stalls as I back the revs off.

Im thinking it could be crap in the tank?

Thoughts?
